What is EMDR Therapy?

This therapy involves bilateral stimulation (BLS), which alternately stimulates both sides of the brain through eye movements, sounds, or taps while focusing on distressing memories. EMDR is particularly beneficial for those dealing with trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and mental blocks in sports. One of its key advantages is that it can process trauma faster than traditional psychotherapy, often without requiring detailed recounting of the traumatic event. This leads to a reduction in symptoms like intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, and anxiety, helping people feel more in control of their emotions and leading to a decrease in intensity of emotional reaction therefore a calmer, more balanced life.
