ALANA TRISTAN, MS

Licensed Professional Counselor

Available for In-Person or Virtual Individual Therapy

Hello! I’m so glad you are taking this important step of self-care to find a therapist who is right for you. My goal is to assist you and/or your child in understanding how thoughts, emotions, experiences, and relationships are the sources of your strengths but can also create barriers to living the life you want. Taking a deep look at what’s under the surface can help transform unwanted behaviors and foster resilience.

Through collaboration with me and by using evidence-based interventions, we will develop coping skills, enhance your strengths, and find meaning in your experiences. Together, we will navigate through these areas in a comfortable and safe space.

I have experience working with children, teens, and adults and with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, learning differences, ASD, physical impairment, and substance abuse. I work with young adults and families on developing skills to become successful in life. I also have provided executive function coaching to help manage the impact of ADHD on daily performance. I have a passion for working with children and teens who struggle with managing emotions.

Prior to joining The Conative Group, I was heavily involved in the community-serving in multiple prevention programs, organizations, and local outreach events which provided the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Through volunteering, I grew a deeper passion for mental health and advocacy. My multicultural experiences inform who I am therapeutically and as a person. Originally, I planned to be a nurse and thus am very interested in the body-brain connection.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology as well as a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of St. Thomas. I look forward to meeting and joining you on your journey in accomplishing your goals.
